Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I see the sky above my current location?

Open the "Location" section in the control panel and tap "📍 Here and now". If you allow location access, the app shows the sky above you, at the current time. If you prefer not to grant access, you can pick a nearby city from the built-in list of 35 places instead — everything works the same way.

Q. What is free, and what is Premium?

Everything about "tonight's sky" is free: the sky for your location, constellation lines, the zodiac constellation art, the Milky Way, tracking stars and constellations, and manually adjusting the date and time. The time-travel features (playback, era jumps, happenings and stories, star trails) and the full set of constellation artworks are Premium — a subscription (with a two-week free trial) or a one-time lifetime unlock. Prices are shown in the App Store in your local currency.

Q. How do I cancel the free trial?

Open Settings on your iPhone/iPad → your name at the top → Subscriptions → Celestial Globe of Time → Cancel Subscription (on a Mac: App Store → Account → Account Settings → Subscriptions). If you cancel during the trial, you will not be charged, and the features remain available until the trial ends.

Q. I reinstalled the app (or switched devices) and lost my purchase.

Tap "Restore Purchases" at the bottom of the purchase screen (shown when you tap any Premium feature). As long as you are signed in with the same Apple Account, your purchase will be restored.

Q. Where do I find the "stories"?

In the "Date and time" section of the control panel, tap "Happenings" and choose one, such as the retrograde of Mars or the supernova of 1006. An explanation card appears; tap "▶ Watch it move" to start the roughly one-minute guided show. Tap "Stop" at the bottom of the screen to leave at any time.

Q. The date and time shown don't match my clock.

The date shown in the panel is the "sky's date" — when the sky currently on screen belongs to. Tap "🕐 Now" to return to the present, or turn on "Live" to keep the sky synced to real time.

Q. How accurate are the star positions?

Celestial Globe of Time draws from a real star catalog (HYG) with the 88 IAU constellations, using standard astronomical calculations for precession, planetary positions, and lunar phases. Where historical records are incomplete, reconstructed shows are explicitly labeled as estimates. See "About credits and accuracy" (the ⓘ button in the panel) for details.

Q. The screen turned dark and reddish.

"Dim red" is switched on. It tints the screen red so your eyes stay adapted to the dark while you are observing. You can turn it off in the "Display" section of the control panel, and adjust the brightness slider at the bottom right of the screen.
